Child custody

Child custody and child sharing (often called visitation) is determined based upon the “best interest” of the child or children. That is a veru broad definition of the law and in many cases a child custody attorney is not really practicing law he is practicing facts. In most cases the parties will share joint legal custody of the child or children. A judge may award physical custody of a child or the children, however, he is not required to do so. Joint custody means that the parties would share decision making on health, education and living arrangements for the minor child or children. The law of the State of California states that a judge should prefer the parent that is most likely to see that the other parent has frequent and meaningful contact with the children.
